Ryan is a Director and leads the Corporate and Commercial pillar at DML. He was the founder of the firm in 2008 and his vision has always been to provide excellent quality and business aware advice in a timely and efficient manner.
He specialises in commercial contracts and negotiations, and consumer law. He has also had extensive experience working with several companies in the ICT sector and with end-to-end commercial technology transactions. He is competent at advising on suitable structures to implement, grow and fund your new business from early stage seed capital to scale up venture capital. Ryan has a genuine understanding of the commercial and operational needs that drive businesses, and how efficient legal processes can be leveraged to the benefit of the company.
Ryan completed his articles at Bowmans before undertaking his MBA in 2000. He then worked as a Strategic and Credit Risk Consultant for Bentley West Management Consultants and PIC Solutions. Ryan also worked for a public sector consulting firm where he focused on several projects that involved addressing the challenges of the information society.
This involved being part of the team that conducted the international analysis on the promotion and use of Open-Source Software and Open Content Standards for the Presidential National Commission; and co-authoring three chapters of a report for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) titled “e-Government: e-Procurement and developing e-business capacity”.
Ryan then joined MiX Telematics as a Commercial Attorney. It was here that Ryan gained valuable experience in mergers and acquisitions, commercial litigation and general drafting of commercial agreements in the technology sector.
During his spare time, Ryan enjoys relaxing with his family and keeping his three boys very busy. As a keen cyclist, he is out and about on his bicycle when most are still sleeping.
