Zoë Almano

Candidate Attorney

Zoë joined the DML team in early 2025 as a Candidate Attorney. She will work mainly in our litigation, technology law and commercial departments but will also gain broader experience in all pillars of DML’s practice.

She has a broad range of interests across various areas of law, including intellectual property, cyber law, and private international law, and aims to make meaningful contributions to these fields.

Background
After graduating with her BA in English Language & Literatures and Law and her LLB, Zoë pursued a master’s degree in law specialising in Intellectual Property Law. Having obtained that, she is now working on her PhD which focuses on technology and the law. She has worked as both a researcher and a lecturer and enjoys both the academic and practical side of the law. During her time at UCT she volunteered for organisations such as Africanlii and SLSJ as she firmly believes in making the law and justice accessible. Zoë was also a post-graduate teacher and enjoyed helping UCT students and staff alike.

Outside her professional life she enjoys writing fiction, painting and spending time with her friends and family.
